God's plan for you is unique

I am the Way and the Truth and the Life. Nobody comes to the Father except through Me.John 14:6
  1. Jesus says that He is the way which man must take to get to the Father and heaven. Other religions teach that you will get to heaven through another person, deity or works. In truth, He did not say that He would show us many or alternative ways. Jesus Himself is the only way.
  2. He continues that He is the truth. He does not lie and His mission on Earth was to tell the truth and reveal the truth to all. Jesus did not promise to tell us that the truth was found in someone else. He Himself is the truth.
  3. Finally, He says He is the life. Through His death and resurrection, we can have life, and only through Him. No other religion or system offers us life as a fact. With religious systems, there are always an if and a maybe: If your works are deemed sufficient, then maybe you will reach heaven. There is thus a good chance you will not make it. Jesus is our absolute guarantee of life. Because He lives, I can live.

When you do not know where you are heading off to in life, Jesus is your direction; the only way. When you are confused, Jesus is your only clear explanation; the only truth. If you are dead inside because your religious system has not satisfied you, Jesus is your only chance; the only life.

The second part of this verse is the key. No one comes to the Father except through Me. This first statement that Jesus makes, that He is the way, connects to the last sentence. Read this carefully and understand:

  1. No one – not a single person, past or present
  2. comes to the Father – can have access to eternal life (heaven)
  3. except through Me – if they do not see Jesus as the only way.

There is no exception and anyone who wants to get to the Father (and thus heaven) does so through Jesus.

There is no other God but God the Father, whose Son is Jesus.

There is no other way, no person, no doctrine, no set of works that can lead us to the Father, except Jesus. Jesus's death on the cross and His resurrection are facts. It is only through faith in Jesus that we can bridge the gap between sinful man and God.

12Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God - children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God. – John 1:12

This verse contains an amazing fact. The right to become a child of God does not depend on your nationality, a decision made by someone else, the fact that you were even born from believing parents or even the religion you still cling to. You are born again because God decided so, based in the decision you made. He accepts people from all walks of life, from across the whole world.

9And they sang a new song, saying, "Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals, for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation..." – Revelation 7:9

We receive Jesus through faith. You are going to put your life in His hands. To receive Him does not require ritual cleansing of any sort or further humiliation but a sincere admission that you cannot make it on your own.

Lord Jesus, I realise that I have always been a sinner and that because of this, I am separated from God and cannot experience His Love for me. I realise now that You are the only way to get to the Father. I now repent and turn away from my sins. I call on you and receive Your Love as the Father accepts me. I place my trust in You because of the atonement You made through Your blood on the cross of Calvary. You died in my place so that I do not have to carry the burden of sin. I give my life over for You to control from this day on. I believe that I am covered by the blood of Jesus Christ.

God's Love is available to everyone, and His message is simple enough to be understood by anyone. His Love was never meant to be available through sets of rules that you could never follow to the letter anyway. It must be accepted in faith, the firm belief that God will do what He has promised. We are ultimately saved once we have endured right to the end.
